My theory (just off the top of my head, so subject to revision) is that boundaries are a necessary tool to re-empower people who are being abused, manipulated etc, but become irrelevant when we are the ones empowered, and are free to choose, for whatever reason of love, to give up our 'right' to protective boundaries in order to embrace the other and let them in.

Karin

I also believe boundaries should be fences with gates in them not brick walls to keep others out and myself isolated. I agree with Lynne! Even with people who manipulate or who don't know how to set their own boundaries and respect the next person's, I can talk over the fence to build or re-build a relationship, should I feel called to do that. May the love of Christ fill us so that ALL our relationships are pure, healthy and God- honoring!
