I love answered prayer!
"I love the Lord, because he has heard
my voice and my supplications" (Ps. 116:1)
Part of the shared experience of friendship intimacy Jennifer and I have had over the past year has been seeking the Lord's light, direction, and blessing for job for her that utilize her passions, gifts, and desires. After she graduated from Trinity Divinity School last year with an M.Div. she had several opinions suggested to her including the standard one of shopping her M.Div around and look for ministry opportunities.
That's just not who Jennifer is and it didn't fit with her story.
She applied for several positions she was interested in but was turned down. So, we kept praying. She strung together several part-time jobs to make ends meet.
In May she found out about an opportunity. Although she felt she was qualified and could do the job, she felt for various reasons she felt her application had an outside shot at best. She had to write a four paragraph statement on why she was applying for the job. She actually wrote that while we were driving on the way home from Springfield. After she read it to me, I absolutely believed that if anyone in the HR department read it, she would be granted an interview.
Two months later, she was called for an interview. She did the interview and had good vibes about it. The next day while we were riding together she got a call for a second interview. Boom! It was cool to be together when the call came in.
She was officially hired for the job last Thursday.
Part of our history (Jennifer and me) the past year has been this shared experience of the ups and downs of seeking God's direction and blessing for a job. The "we-ness" of our spiritual friendship has included prayers for God to provide something for Jennifer that uniquely fit her and her story.
God is good.

That's exciting news! All the best to her!

Congrats, Jennifer! Wow ~~ I am jealous! I hope my prayers are answered like that after I graduate next year from Liberty Theological Seminary with my M.A. in Theological Studies!
